- The Smart Cluster will be unveiled at EICMA 2024 from Nov 5th to 10th (JMO, Hall 10, Booth E61), and subsequently exhibited at Electronica 2024 (CODICO GmbH, Hall C3 Number 558).
Shenzhen, Vienna & Dublin – October 17, 2024 – JMO, a leading Qualcomm SoC solutions provider, CODICO an electronics component design-in distributor and Luna Systems, a computer vision specialist in two-wheeler and bike safety are collaborating to deliver a first for the two-wheeler market, a unique combination of rider convenience and enhanced front & rear ARAS coupled with post-ride analytics. The Smart Cluster delivers a level of innovation and safety previously only available to the automotive market.

Loaded with an impressive line-up of infotainment capabilities, it is constructed with automotive grade materials, including two vibration resistant cameras and a unique shared high resolution touchscreen display.
Smart Cluster key features include:
| SoC platform | Qualcomm QCM6125 |
| Operating system | Dual OS support for Android and RTOS |
| Display | 10.25 inch touchscreen display shared by Android and RTOS |
| Smartphone integration services | Apple CarPlay Android Automotive |
| Safety critical functions | Speedometer / Odometer Fuel / Electric Vehicle Battery status Brakes / Indicators Vehicle Power & Diagnostics |
| Security | Driver recorder function via front & rear cameras Remote alarm and lock/unlock |
| Advanced Rider Assistance System | Front and Rear ARAS (Luna systems) |
| Audio | Dual Bluetooth function (Smartphone and Helmet) Voice calling and voice command and control |
| Upgrade | Over the air update support |
| Connected Services | Available via QCM6125 integrated LTE modem |
One of the key features of JMO’s 10.25-inch smart cluster is its ARAS function, built by Luna Systems. Luna’s ARAS takes advantage of the Smart Cluster’s powerful compute, integrated image signal processor and computer vision engine to deliver always-on, high-accuracy in-ride warnings which have been built for a wide range of safety use cases across extremely complex road, traffic and weather conditions. At the EICMA launch, the Smart Cluster will showcase both front and rear use cases. For front-facing, these include: Headway Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning, Road Surface Detection, Pedestrian Detection, as well as Luna’s proprietary AI Reverse Blind Spot Detection. Several rear-facing features will also be demoed, including vehicle proximity alerts.
A novel aspect of Luna’s offerings is its post-ride analytics – which the company believes is imperative to support riders to be more aware of their safety skills. Each ride can be scored according to the severity and number of dangerous behaviors, such as tailgating. This AI Rider Safety Coach is available as an API which can be built into the manufacturer’s existing customer smartphone app.
Thanks to the available compute and camera processing capabilities of the Smart Cluster’s underlying hardware, there is full potential to further enhance and add additional safety features over time, leveraging Smart Cluster’s OTA capabilities. The Smart Cluster integrates one of Qualcomm’s highly integrated, low power system on chip solutions, the QCM-6125, which boasts an impressive list of compute, graphics, DSP and AI, cellular and wireless capabilities
In addition to the QCM-6125, this Smart Cluster also integrates an MCU running a real-time operating system to handle safety-critical functions. The RTOS hosted on the MCU is responsible for displaying the speedometer, electric battery health and status, as well as brake and indicator status. Communication between the RTOS and the Android system is done via a dedicated serial interface.
The Smart Cluster’s 10.25-inch touchscreen display is constructed for outdoor use and extreme temperature conditions. The display architecture itself is novel in the two wheel market. The MCU hosted RTOS and Android share the same continuous display with 5 inches dedicated to display the safety critical features of the cluster, while the rest of the display (3 inches) is allocated to Android OS to ensure an optimal balance between rider convenience and safety.
Building on its impressive hardware performance, the Smart Cluster software is packaged in an SDK. Built on Android, the SDK allows users to significantly expedite time to market by taking advantage of a rich set of pre-integrated features including ARAS, CarPlay, Android Automotive, Google Maps. It also allows the user to extend these core capabilities with their own differentiating services. Customisations to the Smart Cluster’s mechanical ID, underlying hardware or software to meet specific customer requirements can be accommodated by JMO.
The Smart Cluster will be unveiled at EICMA 2024 from Nov 5th to 10th (JMO, Hall 10, Booth E61), and subsequently exhibited at Electronica 2024 (CODICO GmbH, Hall C3 Number 558).
